STD test prices Dubai: compare methods and specimens

Tests do not all answer the same question: they may detect genetic material, antigens or antibodies, with different specimens, timing and interpretation. The prices below are existing catalogue data, not a recommendation to buy a panel; confirm the clinical plan and current total charges.

What price and specimen are listed for each option?

These prices cover the named test or panel, not an assumed all-inclusive visit. Ask about collection, consultation, treatment and any applicable tax before confirming.

Does a PCR panel automatically cover blood screening?

Is report turnaround the same as a testing window?

No. Laboratory turnaround estimates when a report is issued after processing a sample. A testing window concerns time after exposure before a test can detect infection. Receiving a report quickly does not mean the sample was taken at the right time.

  • Confirm when the laboratory expects to receive your sample.
  • Ask whether the panel is reported together or in stages.
  • Agree how to receive the report and arrange result review.

How do I know a test answers my clinical question?

Before comparing cost, ask what the test detects, which specimen site is needed and when to collect it. A screening finding may require confirmation, and symptoms may need assessment beyond a laboratory panel. Do not assume all positive findings have the same meaning.

  • Which infection or target does this test look for?
  • Does the specimen match my exposed site and symptoms?
  • Is the timing appropriate, or might a later repeat be needed?
  • Might confirmation be needed, and who explains the report?
  • Which infections or sites are not covered, and what further charges are proposed?

FAQ

Questions people ask

Clear answers before your next step.

Does the STD 10 panel include the listed HIV blood test?

No. The listed panel components do not include the HIV combination blood test. Discuss whether a separate test is appropriate rather than treating the component count as coverage of every infection.

Are screening and confirmation the same thing?

Not always. The interpretation pathway depends on the infection, method and finding. Ask whether your report needs another step before a final clinical decision, and confirm any additional charges.

Does a one-day report exclude an exposure from yesterday?

No. Report turnaround is not the test’s window period. Discuss the exposure date, test method and any clinician-advised repeat date.

Do the prices include examination and sample collection?

Do not assume so. The table lists named laboratory tests; request an itemised total including consultation, collection and any confirmation or repeat proposed.
